Had your fill of local festivals lately? Well, too bad, because here's another one for you--and it's quite a doozy.
On Saturday, May 22, at the Main Street Gardens in downtown Dallas, the City Tavern and DowntownDallas will present the Homegrown Music and Arts Festival. I'm pretty sure that's not a 4/20 reference, but I bet you can guess that it's another showcase of the usual suspects from Big D, Little D and Fort Worth.
Big names include This Will Destroy You, Telegraph Canyon and Dem Southernfolkz.
It's shaping up to be a pretty big deal, too, featuring two stages and about 20 artist's booths in the new downtown Dallas park. Sponsors include Shiner Bock, City Tavern and, you guessed it, us here at the Dallas Observer, as well as others. And, to top it off, a portion of the proceeds benefit "Way Into Music", a charity that supports after-school music education.
To stay up to date and for a chance to win free tickets, follow the festival on Twitter or just go to its website right here.
Check the full first round of bands announced as part of the fest after the jump.
