Denton trio Old Snack’s debut full-length is aptly titled for a nine-song LP that clocks in at 18-and-a-half minutes. Everything is Happening So Fast doesn’t stray far from garage rock nostalgia, yet each track stands as its own sonic entity and breezes by without warning. The album is grainy and jaunty in execution: Aaron White wails atop jangly chords while Chris Garver blithely plucks away at the bass and Justin Collins thrashes on percussion.

Topically, the album focuses on two things: snacks (the first three songs) and girls (another five). “Please Please Girl” is a minute-and-a-half plea; on the topic of “Sally Fields’s Butt,” White confesses, “There’s nothing I can do, I’m not in love with you.”

It’s nearly impossible to listen to the album from start to finish without moving your body, even if it’s only a swing of the ankle. By the last note, thumping closing track “She’s Choice,” you can almost smell the sweaty, beer-stained Denton garage the songs were likely conceived in.
