A 3-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool in far North Dallas yesterday afternoon, according a statement just issued by the Dallas police. DPD's report says that Genesis Gregory went with his grandfather and uncle to a house in the 6600 block of Ridgeview Circle, where the men were providing lawn care. Genesis was reportedly following the uncle around the property as the man cut the grass.

When the uncle was stung by a bee, he left Genesis alone while he went to his car to get ointment. When the child's grandfather, who'd been cutting the grass in the front yard, ventured into the backyard a few moments later, he saw the child floating in the pool.

One of the men pulled Genesis from the pool, and, finding him unresponsive, started CPR. Dallas Fire and Rescue arrived and transported the boy to Medical City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police report, child abuse investigators and the Dallas County Medical Examiner also responded to the scene. DPD says the investigation has begun, but no criminal charges have been filed.
