We love food festival time, particularly before it gets too hot. This weekend is a big taco fest at the Epic in Grand Prairie and a food festival returns to the West End.

Texas Monthly Taco Fest

Texas Monthly is hosting Taco Fest in Grand Prairie this Saturday, May 31, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., celebrating the "New Tejano" culinary movement in Texas. The event will highlight fare from several of the restaurants that made the 50 Best Tacos list and will also include live music, poetry, a marketplace and, of course, lots of tacos — here's the full list. Local spots Don Artemio, El Come, Resident Taqueria and Zavala's will be there.

Tickets: VIP tickets are $75 each and allow festival goers reduced wait times and early access. General admission is $50 and kids are $20.

Taste of West End Festival

Remember this thing from decades ago? It's back. The Taste of the West End Festival is a one-day festival with live music and lots of grub. The music lineup includes Sundance Head (The Voice finalist), Overdrive, Jordan Kahn and the Manhattan Band, Richie Fontaine, Hardbox DJs, DJ Sneak, plus a live broadcast from KISS 106.1.

There will be barbecue, street tacos, pasta dishes, Mediterranean and soul food, as well as vegetarian options and desserts.

Tickets range from $15 to $75 for VIP.

Komodo X Terry Black's Barbecue "Sichuan Beef Rib"

Swanky spot Komodo is partnering up with its neighbor from the other side of Deep Ellum, Terry Blacks for a limited-time dish — The Sichuan Beef Rib — starting today Thursday, May 29 and will run for a limited time. Priced to move at $78, the collab includes the a 26-ounce post oak smoked rib, honey cornbread, Terry Black's BBQ sauce, served in a bento-box-like tray nestled in a wooden box. Of course, the presentation has to be over-the-top: this is Komodo.

Wisky and Wagyu at Fearing's Restaurant

Chef Dean Fearing is hosting a Whisky and Wagyu dinner, which will showcase the restaurant's primary wagyu source, R-C Ranch, a Texas brand. Dinner starts at 7 p.m. at Fearing's inside the Ritz-Carlton. Dinner guests will also sip on fine whisky; the restaurant's culinary and spirits team will offer insight into the pairings and selections of each course. Make reservations soon.
