Being the Generation X-er that I am, Ben Stiller's 1994 hit, Reality Bites, still holds a special place in my heart. There was Winona Ryder (pre-shoplifting conviction), Janeane Garofalo at the apex of her career and all the others who portrayed the lives of us so-called slackers. And don't forget the song that captured the day, Lisa Loeb's "Stay (I Missed You)". We haven't heard much from the four-eyed songstress since, but she has a new greatest hits album (The Very Best of Lisa Loeb) out this year, a new show on E! (#1 Single) and soon she'll be in Dallas (her hometown) to raise support for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. This year's CCFA Soul Revival Gala will benefit the organization's research, advocacy and children's programs. Loeb's dad, Dr. Peter Loeb, is a practicing gastroenterologist in Dallas and was instrumental in getting his daughter involved in the project. The Gala will take place at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, 6911 Lemmon Ave., on Saturday. The event will include New Orleans-style cuisine and spirits, auctions, a live gospel choir and jazz music. The VIP Celebrity Reception begins at 6 p.m., and general admission begins at 7 p.m. For ticket information call 972-386-0607 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
