Bend Over Freshman

HAZE explores the dark side of Greek life

Imagine you're in college, walking across campus after a late class, thinking about the party you'll soon be attending. Suddenly you're distracted by an outdoor screen showing graphic images from real campus parties, emergency medical calls and police files. You watch details unfold surrounding the real-life death of a student just like you, and maybe you reconsider. That's just the scenario Leslie and Michael Lanahan, parents of college freshman Gordie Bailey--who died following a fraternity initiation ceremony at the University of Colorado in 2004--are working tirelessly for. Their documentary HAZE screens at 9 p.m. Thursday on the lawn outside of SMU's Dallas Hall. Call 214-823-0235 or contactus@gordie.org.
Thu., Sept. 4, 9 p.m., 2008
