  I left Dallas almost four years ago and had mostly forgotten about stuff life this. Makes me kind of homesick. There was an article a while back in D Magazine or the Texas Monthy about JWP. It gave the impression the Price was getting kickbacks from contractors doing county work in his district. Nothing came of it. My sense is that Price is ambitious and seeks political advancement but that he is frustrated because he is boxed in on the county commission. He cannot be elected to higher office. This leads to the outbursts. All he can do is to remain a political boss in the Dallas African-American community because he is his own worst enemy. I guess Schultze realizes that JWP will not be held accountable for his actions so he just wants to have some fun with it. Come out to Vegas. We need the money badly.

Back to Schutze's story: I had no idea Price, a public servant, had a rap sheet that would stretch all the way to Waco (okay, maybe Duncanville). Bad memory I guess.   One needs not question why there is a racial rift in Dallas when idiots like John Wiley Price represent the attitude, demeanor, and over-the-top perceived victimhood displayed by much of black Dallas.   Also in 1991, Price was arrested for breaking a construction worker's ankle during a protest. When he was on trial for that charge, three jurors and the prosecutor all told the judge they had received death threats. One juror said a caller had told her, "I saw you in the courtroom today. If you find that guy guilty, you are a dead bitch." The construction worker's ankle was broke for calling Price and others NIGGER. As for Chelsea, defered adudication means there was not conviction. There is nothing to be responsible for. The D.A. has been shown to have been racist and irresponsible at least 25 times for exonerations.   Mr. Fagan-McHenry, Your childish attitude and ad hominem attacks against the DA regarding your conviction for threatening to kill a man would surprise me if it were coming from a run-of-the-mill 53 year old who should know better. Considering the company you keep in the form of JWP, however, it doesn't surprise me in the least that you blame the prosecutor for your own actions rather than take responsibility and express remorse. While I'm sure that JWP has many other enemies that you are in a hurry to intimidate, please in the future slow down when going through school zones.   My name was used in the boxing article written by Schutze. I don't have idea why he chose to refernce me. However, this is my response. A discredited former reporter from the Dallas Morning News lied to Mike Gillette who was a "super chief" with the D.A. office in 1992. Gillette, who had a personal vendetta against Price, had me indicted for retaliation, a third degree felony. Every time I would go to court ready for trial, the assistant district attorney assigned to the case was sick. Or his mother had died. Or she had menstrual cramps. This continued from 1992 to 1997. The assistant D.A's would tell us that Gillette would not dismiss it. In 1997, he left the Dallas Co. D.A. office. I am told he went somewhere and was elected D.A. He got charged with a DWI while in office, and is at this moment nursing a bottle of Jim Beam somewhere. If he is even alive. I plead guilty to the lesser included charge to end five years of same old thing. I did get deferred adjudication and therefore have no conviction. What was your point, Jim? Or is that Mr. Beam?

But I'm slightly confused about something: Since when can the city D.A. block a federal invesigation involving the possible corruption of an local elected official? Where is that written in Federal Law or even State Law? I mean, if the Texas A.G. smells something all the way from Austin, doesn't he have not only the power but the RESPONSIBILITY and OBLIGATION to investigate wrong doing, ESPECIALLY over the objections of local officials who would be particularly embarrassed by said investigation? So then, what exactly is the role of an A.G. if not that? Maybe it's time for new A.G.? Preferrably, one that does cower at hysterical threats from a town bully?

  What we must consider is the real possibility that Dallas' powers that be actually find JWP a useful tool to keep the black folks in check. I lived in Dallas from 1946 until 2005. I remember teaching at Lincoln in the early 70's when there was a protest march down Central from South Dallas to Downtown. A few store windows were smashed and very minor looting happened. Thant's it. That's all the racial violence I can recall from the entire civil rights era when Detroit and LA and DC were being torched. JWP yells and hollers and threatens and all the black folks thankfully believe that there is someone who voices their frustration. But little changes for those folks. Folks remember the protest marches and all the hullabaloo and when it stops, we go pretty much back to the way things were and will continue to be. I wish Jim well but if he takes JWP out, JWP just might be replaced with somebody else that would be a genuine threat to the Dallas power brokers. And we couldn't have that now could we?

  Ok ... I read a story in the DMN just a few days ago, which cited the incident where John Wiley Price banged his fist on the table in response to Judge Jim Foster calling order with his gavel. The DMN really didn't say much else about it as the story was about the reason why they were all in that meeting together, but I couldn't believe that Price wasn't held in contempt, and I am admittedly ignorant of the situation or if Judge Foster even had the right to hold Price in contempt in this particular forum/venue. The funny thing is that the African American community embraces people like John Wiley Price. They love a brother that sticks it to whitey, whether it's legal or not. And I can't blame them for that. But, know this. People like Price only pick on people they know they can push around, which is almost everyone in local city government. And this is why a thug like Price could never get a private sector job, nor would he want one. The only difference between John Wiley Price and Don Hill is that Don Hill got caught.

  I first learned of JWP upon viewing the TV Newscasts of him being arrested for defacing the billboard. I knew he had broken the law. However, I accepted his explaination that he was sick and tired of all the advertisements in his community that were pushing products that were detrimental to his fellow citizens. My feeling was that this was a standup guy and, perhaps misguided, was trying to do something good. Fast forward about 14 -15 years. I had the privilege to debate JWP, two separate times, on KKDA, about the 2004 Presidential race. The first debate was sprited , but civil. On the second one, relying on facts and logic, I pushed JWP up against the wall, more than once. So, what did he do....you might have guessed it....he threw out the race card! Those who know me know that I am not a racist. Just because I disagreed with him does not make me a racist! That is true today with my disagreement with most of President Obama's policies. It is sad that JWP continues to loose control of his temper. He could accomplish so much more if he would!

  JWP, if not for him "challenging" the good ole boys system in dallas, hummmmm, the coruption on the police dept, black men going to jail with "tainted" evidence, maybe you "whites" think we should go back to that way of live, but I say never again. He has given us a voice and we will be heard! No more "one-sided" way in this town, seems to me that most of you supporting violence, should think, when you start a fight, don't complain when you get your ass beaten! Remember, you are supporting violence, he is only going to react to your violence, remember that!   This is one of the best comedic pieces you've written in a while and I wait weekly to read you. But as usual its lopsided. Most of that shit you rehearsed from 20 years ago was trumped up and you know it. If you don't I do, because I was nearby much of the time. And while your readers will jump on the bandwagon you need to understand that JWP gets re-elected time after time because most black folks in Dallas are as frustrated with this "system" as he is. When its all said and done, John aint just about black folks, he's an advocate for the Rainbow Coalition of Dallasites who know that the folks with money who rob Dallas blind don't care anymore about poor whites than they do poor blacks. Dallas is about money, and after all that's what he was chiding the Court about. $113,000 of unnecessary bullshit that was prompted by Foster's midnight constitution breaking raid. And as far as the Thrilla on Marilla, I got 10-1 money on the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of Dallas politics. Sell tickets and donate it to the Homeless Shelter.

  So we continue to report the misdeeds of this run amok racist. So we ignore the graft and corruption that he and his cronies are up to their necks in extorting from the businesses in Dallas county. He gets a pass on deals like free cars from towing companies, money from Kwanzi sponsors, and the biggest enchilada of all--the new Parkland Hospital. What he and his cronies will skimm off of that one will allow them all to pound on the table.

  MORE POWER TO YOU! I will be praying for your victory! As a Townview alum, I have vivid memories of being made late to class many times by his sorry half naked ass trotting around and protesting at Townview. He was DISGUSTING. He wore tight ass biker shorts on purpose so that you would be sure to see HIM. I recall a day he got a little too close to our car, and my grandfather hit the gas and nudged him out of the way. JWP then proceeded to try and confront not only my grandfather, but me, a STUDENT as well. But his stupid ass didnt realize how big a man my gramps is and when he got out the car cussin and screamin, JWP weak ass went running to find comfort in cops on stand by across the street. I was cheering. waving a fist and laughing so loud.... I wish there was something I could do to aid your efforts, but as the wife of a DISD employee, I can not risk my husband being retaliated against. I will share your article with everyone I know. I thank you for stepping up so ferociously.
