Like Gogol Bordello enduring Madness, revolving Brooklyn collective The World/Inferno Society favors loose-limbed cabaret rock equally informed by ska and klezmer. The only consistent member since forming in the mid-'90s has been frontman Jack Terricloth, whose vocal style is more bark than croon. 2011's The Anarchy and the Ecstasy not only premieres three new members but their most eclectic set of songs to date, downplaying the horns and stretching their rock muscles while diversifying the rhythms. They open for old-school British punks The Adicts, whose hooky rumble withstands the rigors of time surprisingly well.
