An enormous codpiece as large and irregularly shaped as a bean burrito from Taco Bell. Louis XIV should have named themselves Henry VIII: On their buttocks-adorned debut, The Best Little Secrets Are Kept, they play horny neo-garage perv-rock whose fun comes from the band’s willingness to play up to their outsized rock-star roles. Since they fake that, they’re also willing to fake all kinds of musical stuff, too: bottleneck blues, atmospheric art rock, velvet-goldmine glam pop. They even do character voices. Their pals The Deathray Davies open, along with Nic Armstrong.
