During the eighth grade, every girl in my school came down with a raging fever that caused them to behave even more crazily than usual. The cause? Teenybopper rock band Hanson, who were in the process of taking over the world. My oh-so-edgy friends and I had but one recourse: to form a coalition called the Citizens for a Hanson-Free America. We had homemade iron-on T-shirts and stickers, but we could not stop Hanson. Luckily, the band’s crappy songwriting and bad hair eventually did what we could not: push them out of the pages of Tiger Beat and into obscurity. But now they’re back-ish, presumably to play to their now-grown fans who filled the interim years with John Mayer and Josh Groban. Hanson perform at the House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St., this Tuesday. Tickets are $29.50 to $40. Call 214-978-BLUE.
