After writing this, I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to turn in my Man Card. (And yes, of course I have one. Don’t you?) When I found out Michael Cunningham was coming, I wasn’t necessarily excited, but thoughts quickly flashed to the brilliant movie version of his book, The Hours. I first saw it on the big screen with much anticipation but was flooded with manipulative estrogen afterward. Yet for some reason, I revisited it on DVD, and now I appreciate the work of cinematic art that it is. Then the multiple viewings began—that number is a secret I will take to my grave. Cunningham would probably prefer I read the book as often. The Writer’s Garret goes Inside the Actor’s Studio style by bringing in authors for literary discussion and at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, they present the Pulitzer Prize-winning author at Theater Three, 2800 Routh St. Call 214-871-3300 or visit writersgarret.org.
