The only place you can get cotton candy and really enjoy it (because it tastes so much better in its natural habitat) is at the circus. Cotton candy at the circus almost makes you forget that animals are being tortured and that clowns are the scariest invention ever. The moment that first bite of Technicolor Sugar Cloud begins to dissolve, you’re magically transported to a place where stilt walking seems like it might be a cool profession. A world where you’re weird if you’re not wearing glitzy tights and a tiny leotard. If you’re in need of some cotton candy bliss plus some elephants and acrobats, you have two chances–at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday–to see the UniverSoul Circus at Southwest Center Mall, 3662 W. Camp Wisdom Road. It’s like a twist between the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and Cirque du Soleil, minus French people, plus Caribbean Limbo Dancers, break dancing, bicycle daredevils, magic, elephants, tigers and those creepy clowns. Tickets are $10 to $12. Children 11 months and younger get in free because they don’t count as people. Call 972-780-9300 or visit ticketmaster.com.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?
At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
