I know this whole Vagina Monologues thing has really taken off in recent years, but I’m just not sure I fall for it. As someone who has close–one might say, intimate–knowledge of this particular aspect of femininity, I have a hard time believing that a monologue is the best the female sex organ can do or even wants to do. I think that if our vaginae were honest with us, we’d get a lot more Vagina Diatribes than Vagina Monologues. We might have the occasional Vagina Haiku. And if the vaginae were particularly inclined and had rehearsed enough, we could even partake of the wonder that is Dueling Vaginae. I’m just saying. Performing the Monologues, as Collin Theatre Cares is doing this weekend, is a great idea, but it’s just so limiting. That would be awesome. But until we get auditions started for Dueling Vaginae, the Monologues will have to do. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:15 p.m. Sunday in the Black Box (hahahahaha) Theater at the Spring Creek Campus of Collin County Community College, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Call 972-881-5809.
Feb. 10-11, 8 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 12, 2:15 p.m.
