Feel Good Gaithering

This is amazing to me: According to the Bill Gaither Homecoming press release, Pollstar declared Gaither's 2004 gospel tour outsold concerts by Rod Stewart, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac. Seriously? This is amazing to me: According to the Bill Gaither Homecoming press release, Pollstar declared Gaither’s 2004 gospel tour outsold concerts by Rod Stewart, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac. Seriously? OK, now Rod Stewart we could see (we could go the rest of our lives never hearing “Maggie May” again) but ol’ E.J.? And Stevie Nicks with Lindsey freakin’ Buckingham? For someone we see very little of, save late-night commercials for gospel compilations, Gaither is actively taking audiences by storm. But hey, according to the Homecoming peeps, “Gospel music legend Bill Gaither is proving (once again) you don’t necessarily need a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ to sell CDs or fill arenas when you can do it the old-fashioned way: by making an audience feel good.” Oh, so that’s how they do it. Novel idea, folks. The 10th Anniversary Gaither Homecoming Tour hits American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory St., 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 to $49.75. Call 214-373-8000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
Fri., Feb. 10, 7 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 11, 1 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 12, 6 p.m.
