Nick Di Paolo‘s Web site boasts, “In this day of watered-down comedy, Nick Di Paolo’s brutally honest performances stick out like a Catholic priest at the Little League World Series.” Hmm, nice, tasteful and not exactly a great comparison. In fact, there’s nothing that makes me laugh harder or entices me to go see a stand-up comedian more than his show being compared to watching a pedophile scoping for plays on base. Apparently, his brand of humor (termed “uncompromising point of view” on nickdip.com) has earned him the title of “not only a club favorite, but a true ‘comic’s comic.'” Now seriously, Nick, just because you’re a quick fill-in on Conan doesn’t mean he really likes you. Like late night’s tall one, your hair may be painstakingly coiffed, but your shtick is overdone and underthought. But, hey folks, if you’re into that sort of thing, check out the regular from Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn starting Wednesday at the Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road in Addison. Di Paolo’s shows continue through February 19. Tickets are $15 to $17. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improvclubs.com.
