The Three Little Pigs has to be one of the most terrifying tales a child can hear. Think about it: Despite the fact that you live amongst family, you have little to no protection against this evil creature that wants to eat you. If you build a quick house, the monster can blow it down. If you make a sturdy brick dwelling, you leave yourself open to gnashing teeth while you slowly build it. Not a lot of comfort provided in that piggly little missive. Artie’s Playhouse at Artisan Center Theater, however, presents a far less distressing version of the tale o’ teamwork in Three Little Hams. In this adaptation, a trio of porcine bandmates are threatened by a swindling record exec. Will they stay together? Will they disband? Will they “suey” for royalties? Find out through January 27.
