Much to our surprise, riverdance.com is a gold mine of statistics, tour journals and history that we find totally enthralling. Apparently, Riverdance companies have used 32,000 boxes of tissue, 40,000 gallons of Gatorade, 10,000 stage lighting bulbs, 9,000 costumes, 12,000 dance shoes, 38,400 rolls of self-grip tape and 17,500 years (cumulative) of step-dancing study over the course of more than 8,000 performances and 12,000 rehearsals on tour. Various companies have enjoyed “food on sticks” in Taiwan, a Thanksgiving day bowling tradition and 28 marriages between company members. The show has incorporated flamenco and American tap for more interesting choreography and has just celebrated its 10th anniversary. The most exciting data, however, is that Riverdance contains absolutely…zero…(wait for it)…Michael Flatley. We can officially love Irish step-dancing again.
