Until now, having lustful feelings for our founding fathers was the stuff of fetishes, then a little musical came along that made America (or, “Amercia” for Romney followers) get all tight in the pants. It’s Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, a rockin’ tour of populism that modernizes our seventh president by stuffing him into a pair of skinny jeans. How else would he properly woo your vote? While at first blush the performance looks a dash Schoolhouse Rock mixed with a heavy hand of Dashboard Confessional, upon further inspection you’ll see that our country has always loved a leading man placed in a position of power. So don’t be alarmed if Old Hickory gives you wood. Theatre Three is putting on the production; it has limited-seating previews beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with the official launch beginning on June 14 and running through July 7. Call 214-871-3300, or visit theatre3dallas.com. Also, check out dallasobserver.com/mixmaster for a chance to win tickets.

Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: June 7. Continues through July 7, 2012
