In 2004, when Beastie Boy Adam Yauch discovered a fan’s cell phone concert photo, an idea was born: give cameras to the fans and let them shoot enough footage to make a feature-length film. The result is awesome. Literally. The film Awesome: I…Shot That was made by 50 camera-toting fans capturing the band, the crowd, each other—even their trips to the bathroom are documented. Sure Bon Jovi did it first, with their “Bad Medicine” video. And I’m pretty sure most of Ocean’s Twelve was filmed by pandas. But neither captured a rabid crowd bouncing to “Brass Monkey.” In your face, Soderbergh! Awesome: I…Shot That is showing at 8 p.m. Thursday in theaters across the country including Grand 24, 10110 Technology Blvd. East.
