Ush on the Rocks cheerfully purports to deliver “a brand of comedy that you won’t find anywhere else in Dallas.” As weak and predictable as most Dallas comedy cavalcades are (I’m looking at you, Section 8), such a proclamation is analogous to an Eskimo bragging about being the best wind surfer on the Kodiak Islands. Ush is a young comedienne of Indian decent with more immediate roots in Mississippi. While she’s not so much the actual protagonist of the show that bears her name, she does serve as its “inspiration” and will be closing out this evening of sketch comedy with her stand-up set. Ush on the Rocks debuts Wednesday at The Pocket Sandwich Theatre, 5400 E. Mockingbird Lane. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the estrogen-infused observational humor about job interviews, the perils of modern dating and being adorably high maintenance get rehashed at 8 p.m. Call 214-821-1860.
Wed., May 24, 6:30 p.m.
