As part of its 2012-2013 “Pursuits of Passion” season, and in celebration of the opera’s 25 successful years, The Dallas Opera will stage a production of Dominick Argento’s The Aspern Papers. The work hits the Winspear stage in April, but you don’t have to wait to bone up on all things Aspern. At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday you can whet your operatic appetite at a discussion of The Aspern Papers hosted by 101.1-FM WRR’s Kurt Rongey. Dr. Stephen Dubberly, head of UNT’s Opera Program; and Keith Cerny, TDO General Director and CEO, will participate. If you plan to see The Aspern Papers this spring (or even if you don’t), you won’t want to miss this informative preview. The discussion is free and open to the public. It takes place at the Nancy B. Hamon Hall inside the Winspear Opera House as part of the Dallas Opera’s Baritones and Beachballs summer programs. Visit dallasopera.org.

Tue., Aug. 7, 6:30 p.m., 2012
