A few days ago, I received an e-mail extolling the virtues of the banana. Hangovers, heartburn, woman troubles, you name it—it appears as though the banana is seriously, as Chiquita offers, “the world’s perfect food.” No one had to tell me twice; I find the banana to be an exceptionally versatile fruit for cooking and for general betterment of health. In other words, I love that it truly helps defeat premenstrual symptoms. (More specifically, it kicks total cramp ass.) Now that’s one beautiful fruit. Candace Briceño offers up her sewn nanner- and nature-related “painting sculptures” of fiber and felt in Peel at Mighty Fine Arts, 407 N. Tyler St., through May 21.
