Thrill Me: The Leopold and Loeb Story is not a musical about a heart-pounding relationship between Dallas songstress Lisa Loeb and Leopold Alexis Elijah Walker Gareth Thomas Mountbatten, the time-traveling character played by Hugh Jackman in the 2001 romantic comedy Kate and Leopold. It’s actually a musical recounting the true story of two rich, murderous Chicago teens in the 1920s. However, I think it works better as a Kate and Leopold sequel. Jackman’s character dumps Meg Ryan for Lisa Loeb, whom he meets in Manhattan while she’s filming Number 1 Single. But Lisa thinks she’s just filming her show, not making a sequel, which means Hugh Jackman has to live out his life as a confused 18th-century time traveler just to keep Lisa from filming any more dumb reality shows. Hrrm…maybe we’re better off with the regular play. Thrill Me runs 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 2 p.m. Sundays through July 2 at the Trinity River Arts Center, 2600 Stemmons Freeway. Tickets are $22 to $25. Call 214-219-2718 or visit uptownplayers.org.
Wednesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: June 22. Continues through July 2
