While Mom’s at home slaving away, preparing the awesomeness that will be this year’s Thanksgiving feast, we’ve got a surefire way for you to stay out of her hair and build up your appetite for turkey. Wake up early, skip the parade and don your running shoes for the North Texas Turkey Trot, benefiting the Miracle League of Frisco. Trot your way through a 5K or 10K, and think of all of the things you’re truly thankful for, like homemade mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie with Cool Whip and the fact that you don’t have to cook them yourself. The races, including the Miracle Mile, a 1-mile race for kids, start and finish at FC Dallas Stadium, 9200 World Cup Way. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with race times starting at 8 a.m. Registration is $15 to $45. Visit northtexasturkeytrot.com.
