The musical du jour is obviously Les Mis — you can’t get away from the posters of those wretched faces. But the film (and the book, and the play) are all exercises in Jack Tripper-dom; it’s hard to understand why the hell Jean Valjean didn’t just suck it up and pay for his petty crimes instead of making everyone’s life a total nightmare. Come and knock on my door, Jean — I’ll get you a good attorney and time served. Christ. Cleanse the weighty Hugo from your palate with a stage performance of the classic Sharks versus Jets romance at Bass Hall, 525 Commerce St., through Sunday. Sunday showings are at 1 and 6 p.m. and tickets start at $38.50. Visit basshall.com.
