More and more, I’m finding it hard to appreciate art shows. With so many galleries and local artists popping up everywhere, not to mention exhibitions passing through town, we’ve finally been given the opportunity to be picky about what we accept from the art world. Take, for example, Adam Ball’s Graffiti Love (an irrelevant name I suspect was drawn out of a hat). Sure, it took him a year to put paint, glitter and gold thread to canvas, but does excessive time and effort actually equal quality art? I’m gonna have to say no. Sure, it’s cute and kitschy and kind of reminds me of my friend’s couch, but I don’t think I’d venture out to a gallery to see the work, even if “they are labors of love that are slowly killing” the artist (his words, not mine). Graffiti Love is on display through March 17 at Goss Gallery, 2500 Cedar Springs Road. Gallery hours are 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Call 214-696-0555 or visit gossgallery.com.
Saturdays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Starts: Feb. 24. Continues through March 17
