There are so many beautiful things in this world we may look to for inspiration in our own lives and creative endeavors. Sunrises and sunsets. Kittens. Nature. Bjork. I know if I were going to write a symphony—been meaning to get around to it on a rainy day, you know—she’d be the first person I’d look to. Dresses made to look like swans? Baby daddy Matthew Barney, the artist who makes sculptures of his scrotum from Vaseline? Inane screeching and hollering that passes for music? Sweet Jesus, I ask you: Does it get more beautiful? Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Kevin Puts doesn’t think so. His Symphony No. 3, “Vespertine” was inspired by the recording, um, “artist.” Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 to $76. Call 817-665-6000.
Fri., Oct. 6, 8 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 7, 8 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 8, 2 p.m.
