It may not seem obvious at first, but drinking local brews can help the people of Rwanda have clean water. It’s sorta like that when-a-butterfly-flaps-its-wings thing, except totally different and much more deliciously charitable. In this case, the relationship between great beer and clean water isn’t just the science of one stemming from the other. It’ll all become perfectly clear on Friday, but fine, well give you a little advance taste: Deep Ellum Brewing Co. celebrates World Water Day by hosting Drink Local, Give Global, an event to benefit Ten for 10|Water for Africa. From 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, enjoy beer tasting, a DEBC tour, live music by the Sean Russell Band and the knowledge that your paid admission means someone in Rwanda gets clean water for 10 years. It’s a pretty great return on a night of drinks at the brewery (2823 Saint Louis St.). General admission is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. VIP tickets, which include a private bar and restroom and special tasting, are $50 in advance, $60 at the door. They’re available at tenfor10.org.
