Now that the snow has gone and the weather is getting better (ahem), it’s time to think about partaking in some outdoor activities. The people at Texas Discovery Gardens have you covered with their new monthly social mixer series, Organic in the City. This first mixer, “Murderous Plants: Love Potions and Poisons,” features a lecture by noted botanist Barney Lipscomb on “the cultural, historical and mythological aspects of poisonous plants.” The event also features live music, organic wines, cheeses and fresh chocolate-covered strawberries—basically, everything you need to get in the mood. The mood to be organic, that is. Entry, hors d’oeuvres and first glass of wine is $10, entry and hors d’oeuvres only is $5. Get your fill of poison from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Texas Discovery Gardens, 3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Fair Park. Call 214-428-7476 or visit texasdiscoverygardens.org.
Tue., Feb. 13, 6-9 p.m.
