At some point long ago, some early version of a techy out there was totally over the moon when he figured out how to make a digital reproduction of a painting. Think of the mass reproductions! Ah, the ease of art enjoyment! Painter William Betts has a technique that is, how you say, oh, completely the opposite. He creates paintings from digital works. In Array, on exhibit at Holly Johnson Gallery, 1411 Dragon St., Betts layers lines of vibrant colors at carefully registered angles to create illusions that while incredible to see on the canvas, will hopefully never make it onto an op-art camp shirt at Gadzooks.
