Considering more than one third of Dallas’ population is Spanish-speaking, our lack of interesting bilingual entertainment is glaringly evident. Major theaters don’t offer reliable alternatives, only increasing the divide between cultures and, more important, neighbors. But there is one series that brings not only Spanish film to the big screen, but does so through heightened curation, and that’s Pata Negra at the Texas Theatre. We’ve come to adore the monthly offering, which kicked off a year ago with a tapas party and the Academy Award-winning offering All About My Mother. Now to celebrate its 12th installation, organizers Paco Vique and Javier Garcia del Moral bring it full circle with another Almodóvar hysteria-summoner, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. They’ve promised there will be gazpacho and tapas, so if you dig hot films and cold soups, you’ll arrive at Texas Theatre (231 W. Jefferson Blvd.) for a 7 p.m. feeding, followed by an 8:30 screening.
