Dripping in loyalty, passion and determination, the people of Mexico scream for liberty as Father Hidalgo rings the brass church bell. The battle for independence has begun. Join Teatro Dallas as they commemorate this infamous 200 year-old moment in history with this year’s El Grito celebration. WFAA Channel 8’s Gloria Campos hosts the special event. Enjoy a wine and cheese reception, a silent auction and a live performance of Leona Vicario, a love story about two of Mexico’s greatest independence fighters. The benefit takes place Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak St. Tickets are $5 to $75. For information, call 214-689-6492 or visit teatrodallas.org.
