At 8 p.m. this Saturday, Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch (bring your papers), is putting on a stage production of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s Little Shop of Horrors in the School of the Arts Performance Hall (Building C), and you should go see it. It’s basically your typical musical plot, nerd meets hot chick, hot chick likes nerd, and a plant called Audrey II that feeds on people while singing R. Kelly-inspired tunes brings the two lovers together during a total eclipse of the sun. Pretty standard stuff, really. Makes you ask yourself the big life questions such as, “If I had the chance to feed any person on the planet—living or dead—to a giant plant, who would I feed it?” (Because, obviously you would have to feed it someone. That part isn’t a choice.) and “Where is Rick Moranis now?” (Incidentally, he’s doing voice acting for the movie Brother Bear 2. Yeah. There’s a sequel.) Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and Grandpa. Call 972-860-4118 or visit brookhavencollege.edu.
Sat., July 7, 8 p.m.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?

At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
