Depending on your disposition, you’ll be either frightened or delighted by the stars of the Fang Festival at Texas Discovery Gardens (3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.). It’s a veritable reptilianpalooza that will feature native Texas snakes, turtles and toads. For those who don’t know, native Texas snakes include rattlesnakes, of the normal and albino variety, copperheads, corn snakes and milk snakes. There will be a snake pit for unruly children or simply an arts and crafts area to keep them occupied. Snake feeding is at 1 p.m. so bring any unwanted rats or pet hamsters and join in the fun (don’t actually do that). Director of Horticulture Roger Sanderson will be conducting in-depth discussions on the slithering creatures and there will be short, live demonstrations. Best of all, everything is inside. Event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., free with admission.
