A wise cartoon rat once pontificated that “a fair is a veritable smorgasbord.” Nowhere is that more true than Fair Park (1121 1st Ave.) Friday through Sunday as the grounds convert into a foodie oasis for the 27th Annual Taste of Dallas. Coated in a saucy barbecue theme, this year’s event features educational how-tos by some of Dallas’ most respected meat-roasters, like Saturday’s Lockhart Smokehouse-led “smoke class.” If you’d rather give your liver a tour, visit Taste Tavern, presented all weekend by Deep Ellum Brewing Company. If you just wanna mix it up and gobble your way through 60 of the city’s best restaurants, you can do that too: No entree costs more than $3 at Taste of Dallas. Tickets cost $10 at the gate, with free admission for kids 5 and younger. And since Summer Adventure in Fair Park is running consecutively, you can get Midway bracelets for $10 a day on Saturday or Sunday, which includes unlimited rides and games. Visit tasteofdallas.org.
