After years of waiting, the time has finally come: It’s opening weekend of the new Alamo Drafthouse! Metroplex cinephiles can finally sit back with some eats and sips and enjoy awesome movies in a talk-and-text-free zone, so what are you waiting for? If you’re trying to decide when to pop your Alamo cherry, we highly recommend this weekend’s debut of the Big Screen Classics series, featuring a special screening of the complete director’s cut of Metropolis. The granddaddy of all sci-fi flicks, the original cut of Fritz Lang’s 1927 classic was lost for decades, but thanks to some fine detective work and an international restoration partnership, the two-and-a-half hour film will be shown in its entirety, complete with live musical accompaniment by BL Lacerta. Metropolis screens at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Alamo Drafthouse Richardson, 100 S. Central Expressway, Suite 14. Tickets are $10. Visit drafthouse.com/dfw for more information.
