It’s 1986, and man-eating plant Audrey II is hungry. Little Shop of Horrors, the B movie turned Broadway musical, takes its turn at Lakeside Community Theatre (6303 Main St. in The Colony). It’s a classic love story: Nerdy and unsuccessful florist Seymour designs said man-eating plant to impress the girl he loves, Audrey I. All the dramedy is set to a 1960s rock ’n’ roll, doo-wop and early Motown soundtrack. As Seymour’s success grows, so does Audrey II’s appetite for human flesh. Can Seymour win Audrey’s heart before Audrey II eats it? Catch all the heartwarming bloodshed on opening night Friday. The madness will run every Friday and Saturday until August 31. Tickets cost between $15 and $20, and the show is not recommended for children younger than 10. Visit lctthecolony.com for tickets.
Fridays, Saturdays. Starts: Aug. 2. Continues through Aug. 31, 2013
