When Ben Affleck was outed as the new Batman, people banded together to pollute newsfeeds with Important Fury. And wow — poor Ben. He can’t have anything nice without someone giving him shit about it. Take for instance that Oscar for Good Will Hunting. Mindy Kaling and her best friend Brenda Withers wrote an entire play that portrays Ben as a bumbling actor who literally caught that screenplay as it fell out of the sky. Matt & Ben manages to take the piss out of both Affleck and the usually immune Matt Damon, satirizing their rise to superstardom alongside our obsession with all things celebrity. Echo Theater brings the production to the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Drive, to both skewer and snicker at a culture that allows us to propel someone to fame one day, and the next, launch Twitter campaigns about how much they suck. Witness the show, performed by actresses Catherine DuBord and Miller Pyke, starting Thursday and running through September 28. Shows are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees on September 21 and September 28. Tickets are $15 to $20 and can be purchased at echotheatre.org; tickets at the door are $25.
