The sheer newness of last year’s Expanded Cinema project, the public art offering organized by the Dallas Video Fest, caused thousands to pull over and watch awestruck as locally designed video pieces reprogrammed the Omni’s massive LED canvas. Well, guess what? This year, they’ll do it again. A few artists are repeat contributors, but 2013’s edition will see mostly new folks looking to conquer that mighty building. Expanded Cinema 2013 will happen on Friday, October 4, at 8 p.m., but you can get the insider scoop on that action Thursday at Craft and Growler (3601 Parry Ave.) during its official pre-party. Running from 7:30 to 11 p.m., you’ll get drink specials, some DJ grooves and a look back at selections from last year’s spectacular affair. There’s no cover, so visit facebook.com/expandedcinema, then show up.
