Brought to us by the Lone Star Film Society, the Lone Star Film Festival is a prime example of what makes Fort Worth such a culture-rich city. They gather big name films (and Oscar contenders) that have shined on the international festival circuit and bring them home so that we can enjoy the latest and greatest in film. Among those making their way to Cowtown this year are critical faves including Nebraska, Philomena and August: Osage County. This Thursday they’re opening the seventh LSFF with Tim’s Vermeer, a Penn & Teller film (yes, that Penn & Teller), and the film’s subject and producer will be in attendance. Also slated for the evening are the LGBT film Before You Know It, the experimental/animation shorts block and a special restoration screening of Jean-Luc Goddard’s Contempt. The festival runs Thursday through Sunday, with most films showing at the AMC Palace Theater in Sundance Square.
