The Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic pits the Tigers of Grambling State University against the Panthers of Prairie View A & M in a historic contest that is arguably the biggest event of the year for Dallas’ black community. But seeing as how neither team is really challenging for a national title, not many people are there to watch the game itself. But the halftime show, featuring the funkiest marching bands to ever take to the field, is another story, with enough high-stepping drum majors, blaring horns and pelvic thrusts to make those kids from Drumline shake in their boots. The party kicks off with a pre-game concert featuring MARIO at 3 p.m., while an afterparty rages from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Dallas Convention Center. The game itself kicks off at 6 p.m. in the Cotton Bowl. Tickets are $31.69 at ticketmaster.com. Visit alwe.com for more information.
