$10,000

Never thought I’d see the day that a NASCAR event would be sponsored by the Killers. But here it is, clear as day: the Sam’s Town 400. Must be a good promotion for that crapalicious sophomore album. Strange, I never thought that qualifying sessions for the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series followed by the Sam’s Town 400 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series would have a thing to do with Brandon Flowers and his designer brood. But I guess I was wrong. It’s been known to happen. I’d think with the dice on the logo and all, though, it’d be sponsored by the casino-related Sam’s Town instead of the KDGE darlings. At any rate, gates to Texas Motor Speedway open at 2 p.m. Friday, with qualifiers at 6 p.m. and races at 8 p.m. Hit up ticketmaster.com or call 214-373-8000 for tickets. Oh, and driver Todd Bodine? “He doesn’t look a thing like Jesus, but he talks like a gentleman.”

Fri., June 8, 6 p.m.
