Winter brings many reasons to party and, as it is every season, beer is a big one. The second annual Dallas Winter Warmer celebrates winter beers, like stouts, porters, barleywines, barrel-aged beers and winter seasonals. Come rain or snow or whatever gross in-between slush, Main Street Park, 1902 Main St., will turn into a garden of beers darker than the solstice. General admission is $40 and gets you a dozen 2-ounce samples plus some swag, while VIP admission is $75 and gets you access to limited-availability beers, plus food and other goodies. There is a single acceptable time when it is OK to segregate people, charge them different prices and offer them different services, and that’s when people are divided into drinkers and designated drivers. That’s it. There are no other circumstances. But publicly designated DDs is a pretty cool idea, and Winter Warmer has a zero-tolerance policy toward any DD tasting beer (upside, DD tickets are half price and get you access to food and soda, plus good karma).
