Just about every film buff worth his weight in rare 3-D copies of Captain EO raves about director Spike Jonze’s first feature-length film, Being John Malkovich, calling it one of those bizarre films you just have to see before you die. Well, now’s your chance. We don’t mean the dying part. Or maybe we do. Who knows? Life is unpredictably weird, sometimes dark and sometimes funny, just like Being John Malkovich, which comes to Texas Theatre in an original 35-mm print at 8 p.m. Thursday. It’s an insane but heartfelt story concocted by acclaimed screenwriter Charlie Kaufman about three lonely people who learn more about themselves than they probably cared to after discovering a portal that leads directly into movie star Malkovich’s head. Tickets are $10 online and the theater is located at 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. Additional showtimes are 6 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.
Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays. Starts: Jan. 2. Continues through Jan. 5, 2014
