Nobody knows how to do camp anymore. Humor in modern film and TV is so wrapped up in irony that not a sliver of campiness can wedge in among all that hyper-awareness. Luckily camp’s heyday has left behind a treasure trove of silly but gratifying works that made us squirm. Take Liquid Sky, for example. It has it all — new wave insanity where high fashion, androgynous models, mountains of drugs, a crazy synth-heavy soundtrack and aliens collide. Yes, aliens — extraterrestrial beings who come for heroin and then figure out that the endorphins released during sex are where it’s really at. You can see Liquid Sky in all of its campy, decadent glory at 8:30 p.m. Saturday as the Texas Theatre, 231 W. Jefferson Blvd., presents it on a beautiful 35-mm print, followed by a question-and-answer session with director Slava Tsukerman. Stay for a fabulously disorienting black-light dance party behind the screen. Tickets cost $12. Visit thetexastheatre.com.
