What exactly is This? This is complicated. This is middle age and not being “OK.” It’s potential without muse and parenting without lessons, all the while showing four best friends making what they can out of the messiness of life. Fort Worth’s Stage West (821 W. Vickery Blvd.) presents This, a play by Melissa James Gibson, running through February 13, with its regional premiere Thursday and Friday. This follows the story of Jane, a recent widow whose friends want nothing more than to help her get her life back on track. Without turning into a self-absorbed pity party for Jane, This features fallible yet lovable characters and a prime example of the human condition. Tickets range from $26 to $30, with student and senior discounts. For reservations or more information, call 817-784-9378 or visit stagewest.org.

Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: Jan. 13. Continues through Feb. 13, 2011
