You know that old adage about how you can judge a man’s true character by the way he treats his mother? Well, the same holds true for a country’s conduct; just ask the experts. Valerie Hudson, coauthor of Sex and World Peace, is an authority on women’s security and its relationship to national and foreign policy, and she’s coming to a campus near you to dish out some proper schooling on the subject. For a truly interesting take on how gender equality reflects (and affects) a society’s behavior and proclivity toward peace, head to the University of North Texas this week. She’ll be onstage to champion gender equality as a predictor of global peace, and she’ll also discuss her upcoming book on Hillary Rodham Clinton at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 180 of UNT’s Business Leadership Building, 1307 W. Highland St., Denton. The lecture is free to the public, with a book signing to follow. Call 940-565-2098 or visit womensstudies.unt.edu.
