We’ve bemoaned holding fireworks displays on the third of July ever since the trend got started, but apparently no one listened, as the vast majority of this year’s fireworks displays are happening on Saturday. But at least we had our Fair Park Fourth. That is until the city canceled the event due to lack of funding, only to see it rise again thanks to corporate benefactors like Dr. Pepper and Gold Metal Recyclers. Hooray, right?! Well, sorta. Fair Park Fourth will go on, recession be damned, but guess what patriotic Dallasites! You have to wait till Monday, July 5 for your Fourth of July fireworks fix. Why? Because when life hands you lemons…aw, screw it, it’s because we live in Dallas, and nothing makes sense here. Just embrace it and head out to Fair Park for fireworks; the Dallas Wind Symphony; concessions; games; and the cooling, fragrant waters of the Esplanade Fountain starting at 6 p.m. Monday. Admission is free; parking is $10. Visit fairpark.org.
