Whether they’re tall and fluffy or short and stubby, they make your heart melt into a puddle of goo. From goldens to pugs to labradors to ones with mean mugs, yes sir, dogs are a man’s best friend. And what better way to show your furry friend how much you care than attending the ninth annual Krewe of Barkus Mardi Gras Dog Parade and Festival in historic downtown McKinney? Based off of the New Orleans Barkus, the festival helps raise awareness for battered and abused dogs. Don’t miss the parade, canine costumes and expo. The event is sponsored by Aussie Pet Mobile, The Texas Health Clinics, Critter Concierge, neighborsgo, Honda Cars of McKinney and the Art Institute of McKinney and takes place 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Park, 300 W. Louisiana St. Tickets are free. For more information call 972-547-2660 or visit downtownmckinney.com.
