If you feel like you’ve traveled down the Yellow Brick Road one time too many, you’re probably right. Count ’em: The Wiz, Wicked, need I go on? Wikipedia says there are 22 stage adaptations, if you count The Wizard of Oz on Ice. So why on earth would we recommend you sit through another one? Frankly, I have no idea. Maybe the ruby red slippers I stole from my witchy roommate are cutting off the circulation to my brain. Wait, that doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, if you feel like joining the Lion on his cowardly journey, the Dallas Summer Musicals presents a new adaptation of the same old story, and it opens Tuesday in the Music Hall in Fair Park, 909 1st Ave. Famed composer Andrew Lloyd Webber links arms with lyricist Tim Rice to revisit the man behind the curtain (oops, spoiler!) in his new musical, The Wizard of Oz. There are at least two new songs. Tickets start at $40 and can be found at dallassummermusicals.org.
